Nitrox (Enriched Air)
Description
The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is the most popular PADI specialty. Because? Because diving with enriched air gives you more non-stop time, especially on repetitive dives. If you are interested in staying in the water longer and returning to diving earlier, then don't hesitate to become an enriched air diver.
If you are at least 12 years old and at least a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course. Note that, in some regions, the minimum age requirement is higher.
Academic
In addition to nitrox equipment considerations, you will learn why diving with air that contains more oxygen and less nitrogen gives you more bottom time. During a practice session and two optional (or required) dives:
You will discuss how to manage oxygen exposure.
You will practice analyzing the oxygen content of your cylinder.
You will set up your dive computer with enriched air nitrox.
With the PADI Enriched Air Diver course, you may be able to earn college credit. Ask your instructor how to do it.
Equipment
Most modern dive equipment and computers can be used with enriched air, but your PADI Instructor will confirm if what you have meets the manufacturer's recommendations and local requirements. However, the cylinders must meet the standard requirements for oxygen and be dedicated to use with enriched air. You will practice the use of oxygen analyzers and special cylinder decals.
To begin
To get started immediately, sign up for the Nitrox Online course, and start with the E-learning system. This computerized system develops all the course contents and, thanks to an interactive and easy to use program, allows you to study at your own pace.
However, you can also choose to study at our diving center.
