These courses are open to those who are interested in acquiring basic techniques for exploration and documentation in the field of underwater archaeology. They are limited to a maximum of 10 students and will be divided into theoretical and practical sessions taught by REITIA instructors and specialists. During the practical activity, which will take place at underwater archaeological sites surrounding Baia, students will experiment with various techniques using equipment specifically intended for underwater research and documentation and add valued information to site investigations permitted under authorisation from the Archaeological Authority of Naples.

As of March 2012 REITIA is an international training partner of the Nautical Archaeological Society (NAS), the leading authority in training underwater archaeology.

Based on over 15 years experience in field training and operations regarding underwater archaeology, REITIA has been recognized by NAS and is now able to offer the entire range of courses and will be involved in developing few standards.

Centro Sub Campi Flegrei is proud to support REITIA in their ongoing presentation of NAS courses at a location of great historical and archaeological heritage, the underwater Archaeology Park of Baiae in Pozzuoli. This year will commence with the NAS Introduction to Foreshore and Underwater Archaeology course which will be directly followed by both NAS Part I: Certificate in Foreshore and Underwater Archeology and, by popular demand, additionally offer NAS Part II: Advanced Certificate in Foreshore and Underwater Archaeology.
